vitam® (VIdeo Tele-Assistance and Monitoring)is a set of management and remote control tools forvideoconferencing. It is based on webRTC technologies using themost updated audio and video codecs. In vitam, users access to aparticular room (providing a particular room identification) andthe videoconference session start immediately. Users canstop/resume their audio/video streams at any moment.vitam® runs in different devices (PC, tablets and smartphones)and operating systems (Windows, Mac, Android and iOS), it can berun as an app or in the browser. It can be easily integrated in orwith other applications through an API.User interfaces are very simple (both tactile screens andcomputer displays). They could be asymmetrical, differing fromusers and the moderator (who holds higher control of the session).Ono-to-one and multi-videoconferencing modes share same interfaceand the switch among them is automatic (transparent to users andmoderators).vitam® also implements the online consultation with waitingroom. Applicable to environments where the user enters to a waitingroom and waits until the moderator is ready. The moderatorconstantly monitors waiting users and selects who is to be attendednext. This workflow is addressed to asymmetric scenarios such asclinical practice (specialist and patients), educational (teacherand students, human resources (interviewer and eventual workers) orcustomer service (professional and clients). Moderator can interactwith one or many users. Other workflows can be implemented ondemand.vitam® includes complementary features: a simple chat, desktopsharing and files sharing (i.e. all users can see the shareddocument and interact in a dynamic and on-line way.vitam® offers full recording options. Depending on the recordingmode, all video-conferencing streams of a session can be recorded.Recording includes all shared documents and activities. A singlevideo file is provided after the session.vitam® IntegrationIn Windows, Linux, Android and Mac, vitam® is run as a webRTCapplication over compatible browsers. In mobile OS (Android, iOS)vitam® is implemented as an app (optional in Android, mandatory inIOS), vitam apps are provided, please refer to vitam.es. vitam® canbe easily invoked from existing tools through an ApplicationProgramming Interface (API). The API authenticates client companiesenabling them to open new rooms, log in users with different rolesand customize other parameters according to a workflow implementedin the vitam® core (such as consultation with waiting room). Usermanagement remains on the client company side, simplifyingintegration.vitam® ensures privacy protection by providing communicationsand data protection and enables its deployment on certifiedservers. All flows and data exchanges in vitam are encrypted usingSSL. Secure session recording is provided.vitam® servers can be installed in the client premises whennecessary. For instance, some medical regulations demand that theallocation of the servers must be known and accredited by atechnical authority. In other cases when a large amount of sessionsis envisaged, it could be more economically convenient to use(existing) client resources).
